Living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, hallways, offices and commercial interiors: walls, ceilings, trim, doors and moldings.

The inside of a building is somewhere people are still living and working while we are in it, so most of the difference between a good interior job and a bad one happens before any paint is opened.

Before we open a tin

  • Furniture and anything on display is moved clear of the work and covered with plastic sheeting.
  • Flooring is protected, all of it, not just the strip along the baseboards.
  • Walls are inspected. Imperfections are corrected with spackling, sanding or priming, and separation in trim and molding is caulked.
  • Patches are sanded and primed rather than painted straight over. Skip it and the repair shows through the finish coat in daylight.

Then the painting

Brush, roller and a steady hand, for sharp cut-ins and uniform texture across the wall. Sprayers have their place outside and on cabinetry; a lived-in room is usually not it.

We clean up as we go and at the end, and we walk the rooms with you before we leave. We use Sherwin-Williams products.

What affects the price

Room size and ceiling height, the condition of the surfaces, how much preparation and repair the walls need, how many colors are involved, and the materials chosen. The estimate is free and comes after we have seen the space.

Common questions

How much does interior painting cost?

It depends on how many rooms are involved, how tall the walls are, how much repair the surfaces need, and whether ceilings, trim and doors are included. A sound repaint and a room that needs patching, sanding and priming first are different jobs at the same square footage. We would rather look than guess, so the estimate is priced to the actual work and it is free.

How long does interior painting take?

A smaller interior job is often a day or two. A whole-house repaint usually runs to several days, and rooms that need patching and priming add time before any finish coat goes on. You get a timeline with your estimate, before the work is booked.

Do you move and protect furniture?

Yes. Furniture is moved clear of the walls and covered with plastic sheeting, and flooring is protected before anything is opened. Anything that is not being painted is masked off. We leave the place as we found it.

Do you repair walls before painting?

We inspect walls for damage before we start, and patching, sanding and priming are part of the preparation rather than an afterthought. Paint does not hide a bad surface, it shows it. If something needs more than filling, you will hear that at the estimate rather than halfway through.

Do you provide free estimates for interior painting?

Yes, and there is no obligation attached. Somebody comes out, looks at the rooms, talks through what they need, and gives you a number before anything is scheduled. You can also send photographs first if you would rather start that way.
